Pinney Athletic Field Eagle Project
Donation protected
My name is Matthew Tuttle and I am a Life Scout in Boy Scout Troop 96 in Ellington. I am currently planning my Eagle Scout Service Project, which is to purchase and install player benches, and to build wooden boxes for the trash barrels at the new Pinney Street Athletic Fields. I am hoping to raise enough funds to also install 2 spectator bleachers so that all of the seating will be complete. I am seeking donations to finance my project.
I am working with the Ellington Parks and Recreation Department to ensure that these items will be suitable for the new fields that are expected to be opened in the Spring of 2016. As a former soccer player in Ellington, I want to give back to the town and to the younger athletes who will be playing soccer and lacrosse on these fields. From experience, I know that having benches to sit on while waiting to be put in to a game is useful during cold rainy days, which can get extremely uncomfortable. Sitting on benches also makes it easier for coaches to talk to a number of players at once.
My project also includes building wooden boxes for the trash barrels needed on the fields. These wooden boxes will be similar to the wooden fencing that has already been installed around the fields and will help the new playing fields keep a more natural look. Having trash cans available will also help with the maintenance of the fields.
I appreciate any donation you can give to help me complete my Eagle Service Project and help the young athletes in Ellington. Individuals/families donating $100 or more and businesses donating $250 or more will be recognized by name on a plaque on the benches.
