Paul Pinkerton Family
Donation protected
Paul Pinkerton passed away on May 7, from cancer likely caused by exposure to Agent Orange during the Vietnam War.
Paul, his wife, and his four teenage children planned to return to Vietnam this summer to oversee several projects to help give some of that country's poorest and sickest children a fighting chance. Paul's Kids, the namesake charity Paul co-founded, has already raised the money for these projects. But the charity's 501(c)3 charter doesn't allow the use of donor funds for travel.
Paul's dying wish was that the family continue on the trip without him. The purpose of this campaign is to fund that wish, with any excess money raised helping the Pinkerton family to defray funeral expenses and other costs associated with this difficult time.
More about Paul:
+ Paul was a combat veteran of the Vietnam War.
+ As a rogue POW/MIA activist in the 1980s, Paul self-financed a mission to Vietnam during which he covertly located the remains of five fellow soldiers killed in action.
+ On a subsequent trip to Vietnam, Paul and his wife, Sandy, visited a hospital where they saw a sick infant, learned he was an orphan, and decided to adopt him.
+ They adopted two other Vietnamese children. Paul described his children as his “salvation.”
+ Paul and Sandy facilitated adoptions in Vietnam for over 300 families.
+ In 2004, Paul decided to launch a charity that would help give some of Vietnam’s poorest and sickest children a fighting chance.
+ Shortly thereafter, doctors diagnosed Paul with prostate cancer, likely a result of his exposure to Agent Orange during the War. Instead of dropping the plans for the charity, Paul committed to push forward…as a means of focusing his energy and attention toward something positive.
