Hi friends!
As you may, or may not have heard, Mariel recently broke her leg and unfortunately had to have surgery. She is currently unable to work and may not be able to do so until the end of summer. Sadly, her misfortune continues as she is unable to collect any type of disability or FMLA through work. As if she doesn't have enough on her plate, she is just about out of sick time and now has to worry about managing her day to day living on a single income.
For those of us who have had the pleasure of knowing Mariel, we know that she would do anything, and I mean anything, for any of us. For those that don't know her very well, Mariel is one of the kindest, sweetest, most generous souls you will ever meet. She is selfless and gives 100% of herself to everyone. We are lucky to have her in our lives.
Mariel was just recently in a short-term rehab facility and while she was there, she found her motto of "Pineapple Strong" because of a plant she had growing in a pineapple planter. It's a personal thing that has helped motivate her to regain her strength and mobility, hence the heading of this campaign!
We can't give her a new leg, but we can help take some of the stress off her shoulders. She would never ask for this, and she shouldn't have to. She has a wonderful network of family, friends and coworkers, who I know, are willing to go great lengths for her. Let's band together, and surprise her with some financial support in this time of need.
Please help with whatever you can, even a small amount is significant. Anything is helpful!
