The Pilot Unity Fund

Singled-out, disciplined, fired…
This is what European pilots in some airlines get for speaking up and standing up for their labour rights and working conditions.
Today, airline managers are still using strategies from the union-busting handbook to prevent pilots from organizing and speaking with one voice. A handful of European airlines still prefer to intimidate, subtly pressure or completely silence their crews. Some airlines go to the extremes and fabricate reasons to dismiss elected employee representatives or even challenge them in Court.
To empower pilot leaders from such airlines we have set up this benevolent Pilot Unity fund in 2017. The fund provides a safety net for pilot leaders. It is available to those who find themselves out of a job in direct consequence of stepping forward as a representative to voice concerns and to assert the pilot profession’s right to Freedom of Association and Collective Bargaining.
To date, 4 pilots have been supported by the Unity Fund after losing their jobs under such circumstances. In all 3 cases the support proved to be a lifeline for the pilots until they got back on their feet and found new employment.
Today, we are again facing turbulent days with strikes across Europe and pilot leaders being targeted and quietly pursued and dismissed for being active union members. We need your support again!
Whether you have been a vocal supporter of fair direct employment, or you too are a flying professional, or you believe that all people are entitled to stand up for their rights without being punished for it, you can show your support by contributing to this #PilotUnity Fund.
The fund is administered by the European Cockpit Association on behalf of the entire pilot community, with the sole purpose to provide financial security to such pilot leaders, having distinguished themselves in the struggle for collective representation.
Details on how the #PilotUnity fund is administered are available on ECA’s website [see pdf ]. If you are considering a major donation that might need specific consideration, please get in touch with ECA first.
Thank you for your support!
