Pilar’s battle against STAGE 4 LUNG CANCER

Joyful, strong, beautiful, dedicated, loyal, generous, loving, and supportive of her community are just a few words that describe Pilar Monje.

Pilar went in for a pain in her right thigh just last July 26th. Fast forward to today, and she has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. We are devastated to share that Pilar’s cancer has spread to her brain, kidneys, and bones. This news has taken the earth out from under Pilar and all of the people who love her so much.

This new diagnosis has come with heavy financial burdens —the responsibilities are steep and any amount you can give will be a monumental help to Pilar and her family. She is scheduled to start Immunotherapy and Chemotherapy in early September. She will need several sessions and continuous monitoring which means MRIs, chest X-rays, and PET scans. Although the insurance covers a large amount of the cost the Monje's are still faced with astronomical medical bills.

Currently, the family has been paying for her stay at Saint Anne’s Rehab which costs $438 daily.

The medical expenses are starting to pile up and she's had to take time off work. With no significant savings, or assets to fall back on, we genuinely rely on the compassion and generosity of this community.
