PIKE's BirdieLight Philanthropy Fundraiser
Donation protected
On March 3, 2021, our beloved friend and brother of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, Eli Weinstock, tragically passed away to an unexpected fentanyl overdose. Eli's death affected us all on a deep and personal level. Following his passing, Eli's family worked to build out BirdieLight, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to educate on the dangers of fentanyl and distribute life-saving tools such as test strips. Fentanyl is the number one cause of death in 18-45-year-olds. Still, BirdieLight is fighting to change that by saving lives by educating young people about the danger of unintentional fentanyl ingestion and empowering them with tools to detect fentanyl before ingesting. This tragedy invigorated the Brothers of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity to unite against this cause and unanimously agree upon changing our philanthropy to support BirdieLight and its mission.
With the incorporation of educational events and BirdieLight tabling on campus, PIKE is organizing a philanthropy 3v3 basketball tournament in memory of Eli. All of the proceeds will be donated to BirdieLight. In conjunction with our on-campus 3v3 basketball tournament, this GoFundMe seeks to drive more donations given to the lack of student presence due to the COVD-19 pandemic.
