Pigon Family Medical Fund

Dear Friends,

I am reaching out because my very dear friend Maria Schneider, and her family, have been horribly effected by COVID-19.  Maria and her brothers, Emanuel Pigon and Roberto Pigon,  live in the United States but their parents lived in the Philippines.  

Not long ago, their mom found their dad unresponsive in bed.  He had unexpectedly passed away in his sleep.  24 hours after his funeral, their mom became ill and was diagnosed with COVID-19.  She was hospitalized for 54 days.  She made it known that she wanted to fight to live.  She endured respiratory distress, many days on the ventilator and a tracheostomy.   All while never losing her spirit.  She was gradually improving and was getting tube feedings with hopes to continue her valiant fight.  Sadly, 30 minutes after a tube feeding, she was found unresponsive and went into cardio-respiratory arrest.  Resuscitation was not successful and she joined her husband in heaven.  

Maria and her family have been responsible for close to $90,000 of medical bills.  They have been able to pay $60,000 of that but need to pay the hospital in the Philippines the remaining $30,000 before they will release their mom's body.  The hospital has no morgue, so at this time, the body of their mom is sitting in the basement.  This is adding to the family's already extreme emotional pain and agony.  They were not able to go the their dad's funeral and they were not able to be there in person to see their sweet mom while she fought this disease.
