High rate of teen pregnancy in Uganda is root cause for serious health risks, social stigma, educational disruption and a cycle of poverty for the affected girls. Many teenage girls attempt suicide as a result!
By establishing a self-sustainable pig farm and distributing piglets to teenage mothers and their families, we have taken a first successful step to help these young women gaining financial stability and renewing hope.
On October 3, 2025, we started the second step with the launch of a skilling center. A four-roomed house was leased with funds from the pig farm and a donation from us (Birgit and Peter). In this house, that we called „Gumanamaani Skilling Center“, we started with a tailoring program with machines and materials in place due to a donation of a friend (see it in action on instagram ). The teenage mothers now learn producing reusable menstrual pads, for themselves and for sale to other young women, thus reducing stigma around menstruation and creating skills and revenues.
In order to hire a teacher for educating more tailoring skills, buying fabrics and to initiate other empowering programs, including hair dressing, we need additional donations. We therefore expanded the GOFUNDME campaign
Please support the teen mothers with a generous donation!
