Thursday morning April 3rd my dad collapsed at home resulting in him breaking his cervical spine. He is undergoing intensive surgery right now, Saturday April 5th to stabilize his neck and spinal cord. After that, he will have a long and arduous rehabilitation of possibly up to a year.

If you know Pieter you know he is the most outgoing, loving, caring, and hands-on man on this planet. You may know him as family, your teacher Mr. Mike, your coach, a mentor, or a very great friend. To me he is my personal idol the man who showed me my passion for teaching and working with kids, the man who allowed me and my sister to find the very best partners due to the way he loves us and my mom. He is also always on the move whether it be coaching or teaching, hitting PRs at the gym, biking with his buddies or nephew, or being Uncle Piet.

After surgery my dad will start physical therapy, to help him regain his strength and mobility with plates and screws in his neck.
