Pierre is stranded. His SUV needs a new engine

When I think of my friend Pierre, I think of the guy who is always there when I need him, from holding the ladder while we string Christmas lights, to taking me to surgery and waiting hours to pick me up after. He’s a man who gives of his time, his energy, his expertise and his great big heart. If he’s got a dollar and you look like you’re hurting, it’s yours. If you need help, he’s your “person.”
Pierre took three years off a flourishing career in the movie industry to care for a sick relative full time, leaving him with few resources of his own and a lot of scrambling to get back to business when he was finished being a fulltime caretaker. Then, Covid hit. Still, he made the best of the situation and managed to find himself working on prestigious movies and shows, always the guy everyone on set could count on, who put in the hours and the effort, who stayed calm, who found a way to fulfill every request, no matter how wild. (Ask him about the time he had to make a certain “character” out of meat, or the time he had to find several thousand identical red bottle caps for a show by the end of the day.)
Now Pierre needs y’all to be “that person” for him. We all know about the strike that threw the industry into a tailspin, and everybody out of a job. Well, not only that, but P has been dealing with the death of his mom from Covid, a major back surgery that has taken months of recovery to get him back to full Superman status, and now…
His fucking car kicked the bucket.
For 300,000 miles, that Highlander worked to keep up with him, but the darn engine just didn’t have as sturdy a heart as the guy that relied on it for work, for transportation, for everything. It quit on him on I-25 in the middle of traffic, leaving him stranded on the side of the road, and, because of the strike, without any “rainy day” funds to pay for repairs. Normally, he would have money set aside for emergencies, but nine months out of work, plus medical expenses, tapped him out.
Today, we’re asking for help to pay for a new engine for the Highlander. Pierre has always been the first to jump in and help friends, neighbors, even virtual strangers. He’s humbled to be asking now, but as his dear friend, I can tell you, no one deserves a hand more. Every little bit helps, so if you can dig up a few bucks or whatever you can spare, we can get Pierre back on the road and back to doing the work he loves.
