18 AmeriCorps members were actively serving youth in the Pierce County community through Imagine Justice Project when they received the federal termination notification on April 25th. Over 1,000 AmeriCorps members across Washington State received the same notice.
AmeriCorps are national service volunteers who spend 11-months serving their community. In exchange, they receive a living allowance, access to healthcare benefits, and an education award upon successful completion of their term.
This sudden termination was completely unexpected and has been very difficult for AmeriCorps members who depend on their living allowance, benefits, and education award.
AmeriCorps members are not eligible for unemployment benefits.
Please consider making a donation today to directly support the immediate needs of the Imagine Justice Project AmeriCorps members who were suddenly terminated due to federal action. These funds will help with rent, food, tuition, and other critical expenses identified by these AmeriCorps members.
All funds will go directly to AmeriCorps members and will not be routed through a nonprofit organization.
