Pickleball Is Great

Donation protected
I am hoping to raise enough money to help Mike Hoxie (One-Armed Mike) get through the Covid crisis and be able to continue hosting quality pickleball tournaments.  Mike got his start in running pickleball tournaments in 2012 by helping the newly formed Columbia River Pickleball Club with their inaugural Pickle Barrel Classic.  That experience led Mike to strive for perfection in each future tournament and to make it joyful for all.  Mike had a well paying job as a supervisor with Kroger but felt he could be more creative with pickleball and make tournaments more fun.  He began to gradually build a tournament business while still working full time for Kroger.  As the business expanded his aim was to have Pickleball Is Great (PIG) be his full time job.  With hard work and careful planning Mike was making his dreams come true.  He hired some permanent help and quit his job with Kroger.  Then Covid hit, causing tournaments to be canceled.  Mike was trying to stay solvent while continuing to have work and pay for his tournament staff.  He used his savings while hoping enough of the planned tournaments would take place so that he could stay afloat.  More than 50 tournaments were scheduled and then canceled in 2020.

It will be a great loss for the pickleball community to lose Mike and his tournament staff.  He continues to work constantly to build back and continue giving joy to those who play and watch pickleball.  I hope you will open your hearts to help Mike through this rough patch so we will see his smiling face at future P.I.G. tournaments.
