PIA,PVA Support for Mr. Thompson , aka Coach Gabe

As some of you may have heard (or may be just hearing), Mr. Thompson a floating substitute at Pine Island Academy (or as some know him as Coach Gabe). Was severely injured while warming up kids taking batting practice before a game. He unfortunately was hit by a near 70+ mph ball to the face at a very close range. He suffered 3 skull fractures and a trace brain bleed. He is still at home recovering and although it sounds like he will be fortunate enough to not need surgery for the skull fractures, he is still closely being monitored for the brain bleed. He is also regularly being monitored for pressure, inflammatory cells and bruising in his eye which could lead to permanent vision loss if healing does not go well. The league will cover all his medical bills minus a $500 deductible the Thompson family will be responsible for. However, Mr. Thompsons position at Pine Island does NOT have any payed leave. He is unable to currently work due to the severity of his injuries as well as the rest required for him to recover. The family will have to cover the cost of the deductible, gas, his wife's time off work, food as there isn't much time to cook or clean and help with the bills as well with the loss of income. His wife has been having to also take a lot of time off work to bring him to multiple different appointments throughout the week to a number of Dr.s and specialists. He is unable to wear his CPAP at night as he cannot have any forced air so neither are getting much sleep either. I know the family is exhausted but hanging in there. If you would like to help out so the family can just focus on his recovery and not worry about going back to work before he's recovered it would be greatly appreciated.
