I am a dedicated doctoral student in physical therapy, constantly seeking opportunities for personal and professional growth. Augusta University’s Department of Physical Therapy is offering a once-in-a-lifetime study abroad experience in Ecuador, taking place in early December, where I’ll provide physical therapy services to people facing abandonment, domestic violence, abuse, and socioeconomic challenges. Through a partnership with the Santiago Partnership Organization, I’ll work in programs like the Children’s Home, medical clinic, Forever Flowers, Artisan Studio, and Intervention program, serving individuals across the lifespan.
Pursuing this doctorate requires resilience, a strong work ethic, and an extensive time commitment. I spend at least 40 hours each week in classroom instruction, labs, clinical immersions, and practicals. Because of the program’s intensity, I’m unable to work and save money to cover my growing financial expenses. By graduation, I’ll have accumulated significant student loans and am currently struggling to pay for school, daily living costs, bills, and certifications. To participate in this study abroad program, I need to raise funds this summer to cover flights, payment deadlines, food, and lodging.
This experience will be a true cultural immersion, offering hands-on learning and faculty mentorship. It will help me develop my clinical skills, learn to communicate across language barriers, and provide care to people of all backgrounds. Your support will ease my financial burden, allowing me to focus on my education and service. Any contribution will help me grow as a clinician and make a difference for those in need. Thank you for considering a donation to my journey.
