As you know. in May 2025 I suffered a stroke. Since that time I have been working very hard to regain all function. Recently, I suffered a setback in physical therapy and injuries to my shoulder.

Thank goodness for insurance, as medical bills alone have topped $100,000. But insurance also only covers 40 visits to PT, even after a stroke. Appeals have been filed, my doctors have sent letters and so far the answer is "no". At an out-of-pocket cost of $170/visit, 3 times per week, it has become too much.

The first 3-6 months are crucial to recovery of brain function and rewiring the part that controls muscle movement and I am at month 4.5. I fear that I will miss out on recovery simply because insurance hasn't come through. I can live without full function of my arm (I am back to work and trivia), but I have to give it my best effort.
