For those that haven't heard yet, my best friend for more than 25 years and beloved auntie to both of my children, Phyllis Vance, was diagnosed with breast cancer on March 1, 2018.  Phyllis found the lump and immediately went in for a mammogram.  The test confirmed it  to be breast cancer.

She had the tumor removed on March 16, 2018 and was diagnosed with Stage 2 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma.  Further test confirmed that she is at very high risk of recurrence.   Because of this, she will start a series of 20 aggressive chemotherapy treatments on Monday, April 23rd, followed by 6 weeks of radiation and years of specific medications to keep the cancer from returning.

Phyllis will not be able to work for at least the next 6 months while she is undergoing treatment and the Family Medical Leave Act only offers her 12 weeks of job & benefits protection.  After that, she will be left with the added burden of paying for her own medical coverage.  

These past few weeks have been extremely difficult.  The emotional and financial burden is heavy and I'm hoping to lift some of the weight off of her by raising money to offset the enormous costs ahead.

The money raised here will be directly deposited into Phyllis' personal account and will be used for insurance premiums, deductibles, co-pays and medical expenses that insurance will not cover.  It will also be used for her  mental and emotional well-being as she focuses on the fight of her life.

We're headed into the eye of the storm but with the love and support of all of our friends and family, we know we will see the sunshine again!
