Help bring (more) PHP to DrupalCon

This fundraiser is paused

We’re checking that it meets applicable laws and regulations and our Terms of Service. Thank you for your patience as we continue giving our community a safe and secure place to help each other.

In contrast to many professional PHP conferences, DrupalCon does not generally cover travel and accommodation costs for speakers. The result is that there are some experts we never get to meet at our events. The Drupal Association isn't currently in a position to change this, but we think this could be a pretty easy win for the community.

To begin to change this, we invited a couple of leading non-Drupalist PHP practitioners to DrupalCon Vienna (and they've had sessions accepted!), but they need our financial support to attend DrupalCon.

They are people we can learn a lot from: they've built tools that are essential to Drupal, they have perspectives and experience to share, and we can take the chance to show them how awesome we are, too!

They've done a lot for our community, now let's make them part of our community!

These folks want to come to DrupalCon, but need our support to cover their costs:

- Sebastian Bergmann, creator/maintainer PHPUnit, author of numerous PHP and QA books, co-Founder

- Michelle Sanver, Developer at L//p in Switzerland, focus areas in PHP, Neo4j, ElasticSearch, JavaScript and enabling others. President of @phpwomen. Here's a 2016 interview with Michelle.

We've generously estimated the cost of getting these European PHP experts to DrupalCon and putting them up while they are in Vienna. We will transparently account for their expenses to funders of this campaign and donate and remaining funds to the Drupal Association.
