Photography for Ghana
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Kwame Frempong-Manso. I am a 4th-year student at the University of Pittsburgh, studying Biological Sciences on the pre-med track with a minor in Spanish and a Certificate in Conceptual Foundations of Medicine.
Alongside my studies, I have a deep passion for photography. I discovered this passion after receiving a camera for my 18th birthday, and it has become a meaningful part of my life. Today, I am a Creative Intern for the Pitt Men’s Basketball Team, and beyond sports, I enjoy capturing scenic landscapes and doing graduation shoots for my peers.
Although I have spent most of my life in Pittsburgh, my heritage is integral to who I am. My parents are from Ghana, and I have had the privilege of visiting the country several times. Growing up, I learned my parent’s native language, Twi, which allows me to communicate with my extended family.
One of my visits to Ghana left a lasting impression on me when one of my siblings fell ill, requiring a trip to Ga West Municipal Hospital in Amasaman, the town where my grandmother resides. During that visit, I observed firsthand the significant challenges faced by the hospital compared to the healthcare facilities I have seen in Pittsburgh.
Ghana holds a special place in my heart, which is why I have committed to raising funds in 2025 for Ga West Municipal Hospital. After speaking with the hospital administration, I have identified several needed supplies including, but not limited to, blood pressure cuffs, pulse oximeters, gloves, stethoscopes, bed sheets, and hospital curtains.
Once the funds are raised, I plan to personally travel to Ghana to deliver the supplies I acquire in the U.S. I will also purchase additional items locally to support the community and ensure the hospital receives the supplies.
This GoFundMe page will serve as a platform to collect donations—either from the generosity of others or as an alternative payment method for my photography clients. Additionally, I will sell prints of my photos on my website (www.kwamflicks.com), and all commissions will go toward this fundraiser.
Thank you for supporting this cause! Every contribution—whether donating, sharing this page, or purchasing a print—brings us one step closer to the goal. Your support means the world to me, and together, we can make a lasting impact in a community that I hold close to my heart.
