About the project:
Anxious To Please is a photo book that delves into the unconventional realms of erotic desire, photographed by Ottilie Landmark. With a queer perspective, it highlights the deeply personal aspects of sexual preferences while also revealing the universal connections they create between us. Combining photographs with textual fragments of first-hand conversations curated by editor Anastasiia Fedorova, the book explores seemingly fringe practices—ranging from rubber or nylon fetishes to needle play—offering a tender view of kink dynamics.
At the heart of Anxious To Please are 12 subjects who Ottilie began meeting during the pandemic in 2021. Through their openness, the book provides a nuanced and multifaceted portrayal of desire, emphasizing vulnerability, care, and trust—essential aspects of these intimate encounters.
Though an outsider, Ottilie is granted access to the personal worlds of each participant, capturing moments of unguarded authenticity usually reserved for those closest to them. This invitation transforms her role from observer to temporary participant, a shift that reflects a profound level of trust and vulnerability. In this brief connection, Ottilie's presence becomes part of an intimate experience, offering her—and the viewer—a rare glimpse into private spheres seldom seen by others.
