Founder & Inventor Background *AND* Prototype Demo
(My background is about 2 min. 40 sec.):

Prototype Demo Only
(Much shorter...and a new, more professional demonstration is coming soon!):

My name is Alexander, solopreneur and founder of **A.X.M. A.I. Services LLC**, out of Portland, Maine. By God's grace in the form of just-in-time Narcan administrations, I am 38 years old and nearly 5 years sober.

Sadly, many people will never see 5 days sober if help does not arrive in time to resuscitate them.

I know, from experience, that sometimes it takes multiple tries to get and stay sober. Those second chances can only happen if the sufferer of addiction remains alive to try again.

The CDC provisionally estimated nearly **70,000 drug-overdose deaths in the United States in 2025, including more than 44,000 involving opioids**. Despite the enormous amount of work already being done to prevent those deaths, there remains a fundamental problem: an overdose cannot be responded to until somebody knows it is happening.

I believe we need new tools aimed at closing that gap.

It is with this goal in mind that I set to work developing **PHORCYS**.

PHORCYS is a working prototype being further developed. It is designed to monitor signals relevant to opioid-overdose recognition—including breathing rate, heart rate, and body position—without relying on cameras *or* wearables. PHORCYS currently only needs WiFi signal to detect these estimated vital signs and pose.

Privacy matters here.

Dignity and self-respect are crucial parts of recovery, and I do not believe that keeping somebody safer should automatically require putting a camera in their bedroom or other private space.

Instead, PHORCYS uses one to three wireless **Graeae Grid Nodes** (pronounced "gray-eye") positioned around a room. The system uses changes in Wi-Fi radio signals to gather information about movement and physiological activity without recording conventional images or video. Those nodes communicate with a local **PHORCYS Display Hub**, where the data can be analyzed and used in the development of an automated alerting system.

And PHORCYS is no longer simply an idea on paper.

I have built the physical nodes, the hub, the software interface, the sensing pipeline, and the notification system. The current prototype has demonstrated functional single-occupant monitoring in my controlled testing, and I am now refining and validating multi-occupant monitoring for shared rooms.

I will also be publicly demonstrating the prototype so that people considering supporting this work can see what I have actually built and what stage of development it has reached.

I have taken PHORCYS this far through substantial personal investment of my own money, equipment, time, programming, fabrication, testing, and labor.

I have now reached the point where moving it forward responsibly requires resources beyond what I can personally finance.

## What I am asking for

I am raising **$75,000** to fund the next major stage of PHORCYS research, engineering, validation, regulatory work, and commercialization.

I am not raising $75,000 merely to find out whether I can build the hardware and software.

I have already built them.

I am raising the money needed to take a founder-built experimental prototype and do the much more expensive work required to determine its performance, professionally engineer it, validate it, establish the appropriate regulatory pathway, and prepare it for responsible real-world use.

Funding will support:

* continued sensing and software development, including multi-occupant monitoring;
* professional engineering and design-for-manufacturing work;
* independent testing, verification, and validation;
* regulatory consultation and work toward the appropriate FDA pathway;
* patent and other intellectual-property expenses;
* quality systems and technical documentation;
* insurance, legal, accounting, and other commercialization expenses;
* additional prototype hardware for controlled testing and appropriately structured pilot/evaluation work;
* and approximately six months of founder development runway so that I can devote substantially more of my working time to PHORCYS.

That last item matters.

I am not independently wealthy. PHORCYS currently has to compete for my time with the ordinary necessity of earning a living. Funding this work therefore does more than purchase electronic components. It purchases development time: time to program, test, build, document, work with engineers and regulators, improve the hardware and software, and prepare PHORCYS for the next stage.

One of my goals from the beginning has been affordability. I want the underlying sensing technology to remain inexpensive enough that, if PHORCYS ultimately proves itself and successfully completes the necessary regulatory and development work, organizations with limited resources have a realistic chance of using it.

This GoFundMe is therefore funding **A.X.M. A.I. Services LLC's continued development of PHORCYS as a commercial technology project**.

It is **not a preorder or sale**. Contributors will not receive PHORCYS units, goods, services, equity, ownership, repayment rights, or any financial return in exchange for contributing.

PHORCYS is presently an **experimental prototype under development**. It has not been cleared or approved by the FDA for detecting or preventing overdose, is not being offered through this fundraiser for clinical use, and no representation is being made that the present prototype is safe or effective for that purpose. It is not presently a substitute for naloxone, emergency medical services, supervision, or established overdose-response practices.

The purpose of this fundraiser is to finance the work required to find out—rigorously and responsibly—how far this technology can go.

I intend to document that work publicly and keep supporters informed as PHORCYS reaches meaningful engineering, testing, regulatory, and deployment-readiness milestones.

The reason I am doing it remains much simpler than all of the engineering:

**An overdose cannot be responded to if nobody knows it is happening.**

I was fortunate enough that someone knew in time.

I want to build technology that may eventually help give somebody else that same opportunity.

If you are able to contribute, thank you. If you are not, sharing this project with somebody who may be interested in helping is valuable in its own right.
