Phoenix's Fight to Breathe: Your Help is Needed
Donation protected
I'm Julie, mom of Phoenix.
Phoenix, 7 years old, has been battling health issues since he was 6 months old. He's a true warrior and survivor, while sharing his journey on Instagram, Youtube, and his blog (WeeWeeFrenchie.com).
Tragically, on 4/17/25, Phoenix suffered traumatic swelling after intubation for an elective dental procedure. His procedure was aborted, and he was rushed to the critical care team for evaluation.
His throat continued to swell, and he was given a poor prognosis of leaving the ER alive. He was rushed into surgery, and his elongated palate was resected.
He made it through surgery but is suffering from Stage 2 laryngeal collapse (Stage 3 is the worst).
He can't walk more than 50 feet without struggling to breathe. He remains on exercise restriction and must remain calm until a future "risky" procedure can be done. Hopefully the next surgery will give him a chance at life.
We have 2 health insurances but neither cover corrective surgeries for breathing/laryngeal collapse. Due to the critical care team and surgeons needed for Phoenix's future procedures, it will be an expensive procedure and recovery.
Insurance hasn't covered our $11,000 ER/Critical Care bill. And the next surgery is estimated to cost $15,000-$20,000 due to high risk and follow up care needed post-op.
We have asked for donations to help offset our surgery/ER costs that aren't covered by our 2 insurances.
Phoenix is a true warrior, and the strongest boy I know. If you're able to give anything, we appreciate it. And if you can't donate, please keep Phoenix in your prayers and thoughts as he continues his health journey.
