On Monday evening, January 11th, Phoenix and her roommate Jenelle’s building in New Orleans experienced a fire that destroyed their apartment. The fire started in the apartment next door, and there is an investigation into whether or not there was a gas leak in the building that caused the fire to spread so rapidly. Everyone in the building got out safely, as well as the cat, but most of their furniture and possessions were lost.
Fortunately, they both have friends in the city to put them up for a while, but they are still going to need a lot more help than that. Phoenix is new to New Orleans, and has no family nearby, so this is an especially hard blow, especially considering that they moved into this apartment at the beginning of this month and just paid first month's rent and security deposit. Hopefully they will be getting most of that back, but if it has to turn into a legal battle, that could take a long time, and they need a new home as soon as possible.
The money from this fundraiser will be used to put towards finding a new place to live (first, last, security deposit), as well as to replace the things lost in the fire:
-Furniture for the living room and bedrooms.
-Kitchen items; dishes, appliances, etc.
-Clothes; clothes were mostly burned or heavily damaged by smoke or water.
-Basic staples; toiletries and food.
Please give what you can, as much or as little as that may be. Every bit helps. Phoenix has always been there when I have needed her, no matter what, so I am hoping that I can make some kind of a difference in this situation, even from halfway across the country.
If you are in the New Orleans area, and know of any openings for a two-bedroom apartment, or of any resources that they could take advantage of, that would also be very helpful.
Here are some more photos of the fire damage:

I will post updates when I have them.
