Phoenix Rising Equestrian Center

Hi friends, my name is Erin Hough, and I am fundraising for a cause close to my heart, a local small business ravaged by fire. I was raised in North Smithfield, and I know we are a strong community that comes together in times of need. So, I am starting this fundraiser to help my farm family at Phoenix Rising Equestrian Center rise from the ashes just like our namesake.

We are so very fortunate that no creatures were injured in the fire, and we are so very grateful for the fast-acting fire department. Thank you to the Woonsocket police officer who noticed the smoke and called it in. Thank you so much for the help of the fire departments from the surrounding communities who helped bring in water by tanker. Without you, the devastation could have been unspeakable.

The structure that burned to the ground was an indoor riding ring with viewing areas, surrounding horse stalls and storage for hay, grain and shavings. But, it was also much more than a physical structure. The indoor ring held special memories for every one of us. First lessons were taught, pony rides spread smiles, and events happened under this roof. (the winter holiday market was held here, as some may remember).

If you know Erin and Jay (the owners of PREC) at all, you know this farm is their heart, soul and home. If you aren't lucky enough to know them yet, I can assure you that they are incredible humans with hearts of gold. Each animal is loved as their own pets would be. They are both tireless in their dedication to the animals, the property and what has become our "farm family." Unfortunately, this farm is also a small business, and this fire is a tremendous blow.

My horse, rescue pig, (and soon chickens) live on this farm, and I can not nearly express what a special place it is to both animals and humans alike.
