On Saturday the 10th of January Phoenix had an incident at home where he fell into a fire which resulted in 3rd degree burns to 30% of his body. As Heidi describes, “a parent’s worst nightmare. At just 9 years old, Phoenix is special needs and was already facing challenges navigating his early life.
After an emergency first surgery at the Gold Coast Hospital Phoenix had to be transferred to critical care at the Brisbane Children’s Hospital where they had the necessary equipment to care for his condition. This will be a long road to recovery for Phoenix and the family after him already having 8 surgeries
and many more surgeries to come, skin graphs, physio, therapy and healing milestones to reach before he can be either transferred to the Gold Coast or hopefully return home with his family. Phoenix requires 24hour parent or guardian care and therefore needs both parents by his side during this challenging time. For the Robertson family, this means being displaced from their Gold Coast home and staying at the hospital in Brisbane.
My name is Ebony, I’m Phoenix’s Aunty and sister to Heidi, Phoenix’s mum. I’m fundraising on behalf of Mic, Heidi and the Robertson children Xander (12years), Scarlett (11years), Oaklen (4years), Aston (2years) - to ease the financial stress and allow them time to be by Phoenix’s side in hospital during this time. These funds will go towards allowing both Heidi and Mic to have the time off work they require, childcare fees, groceries, petrol, general bills and ongoing specialist medical treatments.
Any amount is so very kind and we are extremely grateful for everyone’s kind words, support and help.
