My name is Kerri Doherty. Phoenix is my 10 month old grandson.  On July 15th Phoenix was scheduled for open heart surgery to repair a decent sized hole (VSD) in his heart and remove a muscle that had grown as a result of his heart overworking. The surgery lasted approximately 6 hours and went as planned. Although we new he had a long  recovery ahead of him we were all very happy and optimistic with the results of the surgery. After all, This would be his second major surgery since he was 4 days old. He had surgery to connect his esophagus to his stomach. He was born with it not attached. ( Esophageal Atresia)

Overnight, after his surgery, Phoenix went into cardiac arrest. His Nurse administered The  CPR which saved his life and brain function. He has since been on ECMO and a breathing tube.  As well as, heavily sedated to allow his body to rest. His recovery time is estimated between weeks and months in the PCICU. My son (Phoenix's Dad) has FMLA for a very short duration. Due to Covid a hotel is not an option. They have been sleeping in chairs in the PCICU. By choice not to leave their baby boys bedside. However,  I am asking for donations to assist my son and daughter in law with any necessities in the event that they need a place to stay during this time where there isn't a lot of exposure to people. If needed. The family home is 3 hours from the Hospital. But, I  also would like to relieve as much financial burden that may arise. Jaron is the soul provider for his family and will not receive a paycheck during this time. As they did not anticipate an extended stay in the hospital. I want Phoenix's parents to be able to solely focus on his recovery while being able to keep their financial affairs in order the best they can during this time to remain by his side. I ask that if you  give whatever you can to help this family through this difficult time they would be extremely grateful to your donation.
