Brave Phoebe's vet fees

Update…. Phoebe is making good progress but remains in hospital for at least 2 more weeks, she is having daily aggressive round treatment and it is paying off but is costing £2-250/day.

Many of you will know that Brian and I were the unfortunate victims of an horrific and senseless attack on our innocent alpacas and 2 lambs on 22/23rd March in East Hatley, Cambridgeshire.This resulted in 4 alpacas losing their lives after being shot in the head and Phoebe suffered a gunshot to her mouth. One lamb was badly mauled by dog/s and her injuries were too bad for her to be saved.

Initially we thought Phoebe's injury was just a superficial flesh wound but after a 2nd vet visit it was found that the bullet had actually caused a hole in her mouth meaning she was unable to eat or drink as everything just came straight out of the hole.

Along with Frankie (for company as they are herd animals) we took Phoebe into the Veterinary hospital on 26th March.

Following CT scans she then underwent surgery to attempt to repair the wound and is currently having daily treatment to the facial wound. She has some internal abdominal issues too which are being closely monitored.

She is on a very long road to recovery as progress is very slow, but she is starting to make slow progress and beginning to eat small amounts.

We are hoping to get them both home as soon as possible and continue with the wound care ourselves but until she can eat well enough she needs to stay in hospital.

The current vet bill is approximately £3,500 and many lovely people have offered donations towards her bill and have encouraged me to set up this appeal. If donations exceed the final amount then the excess will be donated to charity.
