Phoebe's Recovery Fund

PHOEBE'S RECOVERY FUND!

Last week our talented and beloved wire walker and costumier Phoebe Bullzini had a very nasty fall while dismounting from their high wire platform during rehearsals. It was clearly a shocking event, and she has put on an extraordinarily brave face, despite that the fall very nearly cost her life, or even paralysis. Thank heavens though she has come out 'only' with multiple fractures (though this does include her neck and pelvis), and will no doubt make a full recovery....with time and plenty of support. We, the wider group of Phoebe and Chris's friends have created this fundraiser with this aim in mind.

Here is the post Phoebe wrote from hospital after the fall:

"So some you already know and I’ve been debating whether to share my news over face book or not but I’ve decided to, firstly because I’d quite like support and secondly because I don’t think I should be ashamed. I’ve followed my heart and feel I have proven myself as a competent artist. But in this industry we are all taking risks and I think it’s easy to forget that. So on Wednesday whilst training for the biggest most spectacular highwire walk of my career I had a fall from 6 meters. I had come to the end of the wire and was actually getting down unfortunately I slipped and end up landing on my back on a scaff bar, very narrowly avoiding a stake. I was treated on site by a critical care team and paremedics who popped my dislocated shoulder back in then took me in a special air filled stretcher to bath. I was scanned and xrayed and pocked and proded and pricked with pins. One doctor even stuck there finger up my bum.
I have a broken Illiac crest, broken ribs, broken scapula, broken lower vertebra and a ruptured C7 ( the lowest vertebrae of the neck) this is the most serious of all my injuries and means I will be in a very fetching neck and torso brace for 6 weeks.

Today I walked for the first time since Wednesday and it was great, a little wobbly getting up but not too new born giraffe. Today I also learnt how close to being paralysed I actually was, the doctors showed me the scan of my neck and the the rupture is less than half a millimetre away from my spinal cord. I cried quite a lot when I saw this.

Getting mobile again is great but very tiring and has made me almost faint a few times.

I’m feeling positive and have no regrets, I am looking forward to training again and once again stepping foot on a wire, I don’t know when it’ll be but that doesn’t matter I’m just very thankful that I’m where I am now.

Stay safe people.
Thanks to everyone who has been messaging and visited it means a lot to have such an awesome family of friends."

So we've started this campaign on behalf of our whole group of friends, and especially for those of us who are not living close enough to Phoebe and Chris to help out practically over the coming weeks and months of Phoebe's recovery.

It would be a great show of support to help with any additional costs they may face, and to improve Phoebe's chances of healing fast and super well.
The money will go towards anything Phoebe might need during this time, such as extra treatments like osteopathy, massage, herbal medicines, and any other therapies to support her health and wellbeing.

Some of the extra money could go towards childcare, home help, and additional travel costs for Chris who has a long string of shows away from home and his beloved family, and also towards their loss of earnings. We all know how incredibly hard it is to be self employed performer, if you are ill and cannot work, then there's simply no money. A little buffer towards this would go a long way we're sure.

So we have asked Phoebe and Chris how they would feel about a fundraiser, and they are very touched and extremely grateful for the level of support already shown. We all know how incredibly humble and independent they are, creating incredible shows for the community and going the extra mile for many of their close friends. Let's show a little bit in return, because we care for them both so!

We love you Phoebe, we love you Chris, and of course darling little Nephele, we hope you can feel the wider community around you during this difficult time, and wish you a speedy recovery, and hope this money can be a little bit of help for you all xxx Big LOVE from all your friends around the globe!
