Dog and Pet Owners Unite!!! ”Phoebe” needs your help!

Hello, my name is Holly. I am raising money for my dear friend, coworker, and nurse, Ruth and her beloved dog, Phoebe. Recently, Phoebe, a black poodle, broke from her fenced-in yard and decided to go on a run-about through Leland, NC (a town outside of Wilmington). Unknowing to Phoebe, this adventure would soon turn into a 15-day search-and-rescue mission for many Leland residents, friends, and family of this beloved dog. Sadly, having become spooked, and living amongst the wild for such a time, Phoebe, became skiddish, scared, and impossible to catch. Seen on multiple occasions around the town at the local stores, laying in yards, pursuing the park, or at the local elementary school etc, the community pulled together to assist in getting this scared puppy home to broken-hearted Ruth.
Sadly, but thankfully, Phoebe did make it back to Ruth on Easter Sunday (Not to her home, but to the emergency vet, ICU unit, after a car hit her and cowardly ran from the scene). Fortunately, angels on Earth witnessed this accident and were able to reach Phoebe, taking her to get immediate help. She obtained two broken legs requiring orthopedic surgery, a dislocated right elbow, and a small pneumothorax. Yesterday, she made it through surgery with hopes of going home later in the week. The bills have escalated with receiving such emergent care. This fundraiser is to help assist, and hopefully, cover this unexpected bill.
Ruth is a dear friend. Someone I, and many, hold dear to our hearts. Personally she was there for me during the toughest time of my life, when I lost my brother to suicide. She put all of her life aside and was present for me and my family while we tried to navigate through such a loss. As a coworker she provided unconditional guidance with my everyday work life with no judgement of the needs I expressed during that time. She was present when many didn’t know how to be and quiet when silence spoke louder than words could during my darkness. I would never be able to express my appreciation to her but paying this kindness forward I hope many of us can contribute to her and Phoebe during this time. Having her puppy finally home is something she should rejoice in versus stressing over additional bills.
“Dogs are angels sent from heaven in order to help us to be better people.”
Our dogs (or pets) are an extension of our family. They live, eat, sleep, and exist among our daily lives never asking much from us except love. They have no idea of our daily struggles when it comes to work or other obstacles we may face. Their love is unconditional and nonjudgmental. Our dogs are often the bright lights at the end of a long day leading us home. Without their presence, there is an absence, physically and emotionally within our home. Having lost a pet you may understand this emptiness; having a pet you may dread to think of such a time without your precious being by your side.
Thank you for taking the time to read. Please donate to help. My goal is to reach 3000 dog-loving folk (or cat) who would graciously donate $5. Together we can help someone from our own love for our pets!
