We stand in solidarity with those directly affected by police brutality, with the protestors who are seeking justice on streets across the country, and with our fellow Black sisters and peers. We will not let George Floyd’s name, and the names of countless other victims, be forgotten.  

We are raising money for two organizations with missions to help those most vulnerable in our community. We have selected the Philadelphia Bail Fund and the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund. Their missions are attached below. 

We are matching up to $2000 of donations, and dividing the funds equally among each organization.

Philadelphia Bail Fund: The Philadelphia Bail Fund pays bail at the earliest possible moment for people who are indigent and cannot afford bail — ideally before they are transferred from their holding cell to jail. The Philadelphia Bail Fund also subjects the impact of its work to evaluation and uses the results to educate policymakers and lobby for reform.

NAACP Legal Defense Fund: The NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. is America’s premier legal organization fighting for racial justice. Through litigation, advocacy, and public education, LDF seeks structural changes to expand democracy, eliminate disparities, and achieve racial justice in a society that fulfills the promise of equality for all Americans. LDF also defends the gains and protections won over the past 75 years of civil rights struggle and works to improve the quality and diversity of judicial and executive appointments.
