Phin's Phix-up Phund

Donation protected

This is Phineas.
An 8 year old Boston Terrier and my partner in crime....
Sadly he needs a bit of support from some good #phinstagram friends to see what we can do to help him feel better...

To put it bluntly, he's having bad seizures, and it's kinda rough on the little guy, and I would like to reach out to veterinarians and figure out what I can do to help him.

The problem: science and medicine can be a bit hard on resources… and it bothers me that the limiting factor for taking care of my goofball friend is cash...

So, I'd like to get some funds to take him to see more veterinarians to let us know what we can do. As it stands now, it went from blood work, to observations, and now we need to talk to neurological specialists and get some tests run. (If they suggest it) and what treatments I should take.

If you are a person that has enjoyed phin as much as I do, if he has improved your life if even for a moment, and if you have the cash without putting yourself out... Then I humbly ask some help here. For the sake of Phin.

I am not coming empty handed. I want you to also feel happy to take something away with this. I am horrible and asking for help, so to soften this, I have been creating artwork to help raise funds. From stickers when he needed work done one previous years... To this year where I have been designing and offering enamel pins. Something to take with you from me, to say thank you for helping us with this...

The backstory:
I adopted him at about a year old, from a fun little family that had a 3 month old and a job that they had to travel. The moment I saw him I pretty much knew he was the dog that would be up to join me for all my adventures.

I realize I'm biased, but this is by far one of the best dogs I've ever encountered. I totally get the concept of Mans Best Friend, this little guy goes everywhere with me. From him joining me during the day at work for the past 7 years... And from being able to be part of the various teams and projects I worked on here in the #Roc like #WallTherapy. He has been part of my life and the life of so many others.

Recently, the little guy has started to have some serious medical issues.  One night I heard what I thought was him playing with a new stuffed bear, where he typcially shakes and and trashes it around... when I happened to look over and realized the sounds were him having a Grand Mal seizure. It was hard to watch, he was slamming around and it was going on for quite some time. Luckily my girlfriend was there to help calm me and my worried face as I struggled to understand what was happen.

He began having seizures more frequently... The vet putting him on seizure meds, which lessened them, and seemed to keep them at bay for weeks. But I realized he wasn't the same, aside from the sever seizures, he also was starting to have waves of what looks like extreme full body cramps and muscle problems (stumbling, and not walking right). Sadly it kept getting worse and worse till he literally started yowling in pain at work. And I should say that this dog never makes noise, let alone whine... My coworkers and I pretty much couldn't console him as he had numerous of these painful episodes.

Luckily another vet visit and they offered something more for the pain. The dog I know came back. At least for a bit. He has been able to rest when he sleeps, he could walk again, and what more, I could pick him up if he needed to be carried. That has been the worst part, the pain seems to also come from being picked up. So you couldn't do much to help with these smaller painful seizures. At least with the Grand Mal seizures he would be out of it and unaware of what was happening.  And when he came back he would be happy to see you and rather active. Like getting back home from a long trip to see you. He was blissfully ignorant why everyone else was worried. But, fingers are crossed that the new meds are going to help him rest until we can get him into a specialist.

I am hoping to raise the cash for the suggested Cat Scan or MRI, and treatments if suggested. The vet says that it'll be a few hundred for specialists visits, a scan being minimum $2000, plus for a few hundred for anesthesia for just the single visit, and the meds are around $40-$50 a month.  (edit: She told me today that it would most likely start at $3000... )

Upon asking friends, they suggested this GoFundMe idea as a way to raise the funds I'll need to cover the initial costs....  so, I whipped up a cool pin with the face of Phin...  So, I humbly ask for some assistance to see what I can do to help my little guy with this really bad seizures.

I realize money is tight with a lot of people.. if you can't help, there are no hard feelings, all I ask is that if you have enjoyed spending time with Phin in the past, that you share the link on your social media.

Thank you from Phineas and myself.
