Hostel in Philadelphia needs help!

The COVID-19 crisis could not have hit us at a worse time. We’re just coming out of our slow winter season, which has already consumed the majority of our savings. Since President Trump enacted the travel ban from Europe, and all conference and school trips have been canceled, we’ve received hundreds of cancellations. Starting this week our occupancy is going to be well below 30%, probably under 15%, and will remain that way for the foreseeable future. We have to pay our employees, and continue to pay the bills. We want to keep our hostel open to provide a good, clean and safe place for travelers to stay and explore our beautiful city. These funds will help save the jobs of 12 wonderful employees, who continue to perform admirably during all of this. If we don't come up with the money, the bank will foreclose on us and we'll lose everything we've worked so hard for all these years.

About the Hostel: we are family owned and operated. We opened 12 years ago with a goal to create one of the most loved hostels in America. In 2017 we expanded, adding more beds to serve more travelers, and more common space for our guests to enjoy. It was not only an improvement to the hostel, but to the neighborhood as well. Our neighbors often thank us for getting rid of the awful nightclub that was such an eyesore on our street. Through the years we’ve been consistently ranked among the best hostels in North America, something we’re very proud of. Now, we’re afraid that we’ll lose it all! We're still not sure how we're going to break the news to our young boys who are 5 and 7. They're looking forward to one day greeting guests and getting to practice their German.

We are asking for contributions and/or non-refundable reservations made through our website www.applehostels.com  for any date in the future, even if you're not actually planning on staying with us - just leave us a message in the comments section!

Thanks for helping to keep our hostel open!
