Philly Fringe Production of Time as a Symptom

Howdy! My name is Steven Gross (he/they), I'm an emerging theatre maker in Philadelphia and I'm doing the self-producing thing!!! This is my first real endeavor into producing and directing the work I want to make and see in the world and am so excited for the adventure. Of course, theatre is expensive and while I've chosen a super simple show with very little production value, it still is going to cost quite a bit of $$$ to make it happen. Hence, a GoFundMe!
The play I'm producing/directing is called Time as a Symptom by Max Gallagher (they/them). It's a beautifully heartfelt and intimate short play about what it means to connect as human beings in the world. We meet Bean and Jam in a metaphysical subway station called The Below and watch in real time (and fake time) the two meet, connect, and eventually part ways. This play is so precious to me because of how pertinent it feels right now. We are coming out of two years of isolation and trying to find out again how to be humans alongside other people. It's hard. It's weird. It's sticky. So why not let characters on a stage show us how it can work? This play gives me so much hope and I want to share that with the world.
As I said, this play is super simple in production value so the majority of funds raised would go directly to paying for our venue and paying all of the incredible members of our cast and team. I center my work and processes on the human beings involved because when we make sure everyone is valued and cared for, they will do their best work and also come out the other side feeling good and fulfilled rather than drained and used.
If you are still reading this, thank you so so much. Anything and everything helps us reach our goal of making cool, queer, hopeful theater happen.
