Hi everyone!
I will be heading to Iloilo City, Philippines in January 2020 for a medical mission trip which is an opportunity I always wanted to be a part of in an effort to give back to a community in need. During the mission we will be providing free cervical cancer screening to women in underserved communities with limited or no access to traditional medical care. The Cervical Cancer Screening and Prevention Program (CECAP) is conducted year round and also includes breast cancer screening to prevent these two diseases. We will also have a traveling medical clinic alongside the CECAP team to provide these services and general wellness visits to those villages and communities outside of Iloilo City. Marian Rose's team of volunteer medical providers will also perform gynecological, breast, thyroid, and ophthalmic surgeries to those who cannot afford these life-saving procedures considering patients here need to provide all personal resources for medical care. Our goals in providing these medical services is to provide life-saving opportunity for the underserved, teach local doctors and healthcare professionals techniques they don't have access to, and raise awareness so local medical providers can encourage their patients to seek medical care and understand when to go for check-ups. In this way, patients can receive preventative care, taking care of issues before more invasive intervention is necessary.
I am hoping to reach my goal of $3000 and collect these funds by December 31, 2019, which is just around the corner! Any amount helps! These funds will go directly to the cost of getting to the Philippines and helping those in need.
