Phillip, born and raised in Oakland, California, one of eight kids and a graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes 1979, and a graduate of St. Mary's High School in 1983. A huge fan of the A's Baseball Team and the Warriors and of course Golf. He is a man with a great sense of humor and has always been there for his wife, family and friends. He is the first one to make you laugh when you are down, pick you up with a sarcastic remark and a great listener.
Phillip has always been a kind hearted person who loves with his whole heart. He has always been there for me and has always been there through thick and thin with love and devotion. We both have had our battles and he has been there with me through it all, by my side. He never ceases to give himself selflessly, for me, for his family, my family and our friends. He is truly my best friend, my rock, the love of my life. I would not have the life I have now without Phillip. He is a very strong person and proud man and a fighter and once he finds out I did this for him, I hope his sense of humor comes out.
Phillip, at only age 53 has recently been diagnosed with an extremely rare cancer, Gall Bladder and Bile Duct Cancer. It is a cancer that is so rare that patients only find out they have it after experiencing galls stones and have their gall bladder removed and it is sent to the lab. Unfortunately there are no signs or symptoms of Gall Bladder Cancer until it is in its later stages.
Sadly, Phillip's cancer is inoperable and in a late stage. It was discovered by complete accident. Started with symptoms of acid reflux and heartburn and after changing his diet and taking some medication and no signs of improvement tests were ordered by the doctor. After several endoscopy procedures, placing a stent in the bile duct, PET scan and several biopsies, it has been confirmed that the cancer is in the gall bladder and the bile duct and hoping that it is not in the lymph nodes.
There are a couple of alternative treatments that could help shrink the cancer, however, insurance does not cover it. Active immunotherapy directs the immune system to attack tumor cells by targeting TAAs.
The funds will help pay for the Immunotherapy treatments including possible medication, acupuncture, specialized nutrition, shots and some holistic approach to attacking the cancer and relieving stress and lastly would be chemo. Phillip's goal is quality of life.
Your help is very much appreciated and we will keep you posted on his progress. We pray everyday that he will conquer this rare cancer and be able to get back to being the strong and healthy person we have always known him to be. I know in my heart that Phillip will be healed, with his positive outlook and competitive spirit, he will have the opportunity to give back and pay it forward.
