Our beloved brother Philip Kandapa Yankay Bangura lost his battle for life after a long struggle with illness on 19th December 2016.

For the past 7years Kandapa had fought a battle with kidney problem and was on dialysis for 6years. He was fortunate to have a kidney donor and was happy to start a  new life. He travelled a bit and was looking forward to going abroad again .

He had undergone several operations all of which he had miraculously recovered from. His strong and zealous nature shone through all his pain and kept the Kandapa we all know and love alive.  Despite all his ongoing health issues he never lost his sparkle and zest for life. He continuously brought joy, love, laughter to all he met. His humour and engaging attitude was infectious and he brought a ray of light wherever he went.

Everyone knows him as the dancer! He was always smartly dressed for every occasion. He loved to have a good time. He loved music and people.  Everyone was touched by Philip Kandapa.  Even in the hospital the nurses where always telling me how he kept the ward lively and thought him to be such a lovely gentleman. He had a warm heart for everyone and a very caring and empathetic spirit. He was generous and will give from the little that he had.

He never complained or let on about how much pain or discomfort he was going through and trivialised his illness so that others will not feel uncomfortable. 

We are devasated to have lost this great man. Help us to give our brother, our friend, our father, a husband and dad the send off he deserves.
