My mother is one of the victims of COVID19 and is fighting for her life in a hospital in Manila, Philippines. To date, 8/10/20, she is still there with a ventilator trying to survive and heal from the complications of pneumonia.
She has been in the hospital tent since July 18 and admitted to COVID unit ICU on July 20 when she had respiratory distress and failure to respond.
It’s been 22 days and we are still praying for God’s graces to give her the strength to fight this and heal in time.
My mother is a widow with no income and dependent on all her children. She is also the full time main caretaker of my non-verbal autistic nephew so that my sister can work. She is no health insurance in the Philippines. My sister is also a COVID patient and unable to work at this time, in self isolation in her home.
My brother is working part time also trying to make it.
Though this challenge will be long one, my family and siblings got financially drained with the hospital expenses that is daily increasing. As of today, 8/10/20, the hospital sent me a bill for 3 million pesos with an exchange rate right now of P48 to $1.00. This equates to roughly $62,000 of which we have made only 150,000 pesos of payment at this time.

Thank you for lending an ear and for all your prayers, Maria Gabriel-Noblejas
