As many of you are aware Philippa has been diagnosed with 3 tumours on the brain after presenting to the Cleve Hospital mid-April. This is just another step in Philippa’s journey after her initial diagnosis of kidney cancer in 2018.
In 2018 Philippa underwent surgery to remove her right kidney. The following 3 years saw the cancer move to other organs with these being removed or partially removed.
In late 2021 Philippa began immunotherapy over a course of 4 months. These were double doses to really target tumours around vital organs. This was not without its complications due to Philippa being a ‘super responder’.
After many complications, the February 2022 scan revealed there were no tumours. She was in the clear. Philippa continued with 1 round of immunotherapy and scans to check for tumours. These scans remained clear. However, it was not without other complications of the treatments and drugs.
Now, Philippa is currently resting up after her surgery to remove the largest brain tumour, with another surgery booked to happen soon. She is going well and remains positive. From here the treatment will continue with further surgery, radiation and chemotherapy.
Many people have asked about sending flowers and gifts to show their support for Philippa. After her surgeries, she often cannot receive these in recovery. We have set up this go fund me account to help support Philippa and her family as they continue to navigate through this emotional and long-winding journey. The money kindly donated is going to allow the family to travel to and from Adelaide to spend quality time together, and will assist with costs associated with rehab and accommodation at the cancer centre.
