On 31st August, I will be making a charity walk with my daughter Charlotte starting from the Pier at Lytham St.Annes and then along our favourite coastline to the end of the North Pier in Blackpool to raise vital funds for Kidneys For Life.
In early 2024, I was diagnosed with Goodpasture’s Syndrome, a rare and life-threatening autoimmune disease. I spent two months at Manchester Royal Infirmary undergoing intensive treatment, including plasma exchange, dialysis, and chemotherapy. While the treatment saved my life, it left me with permanent kidney damage. I am now on the transplant waiting list — whilst living every other day on dialysis.
Kidneys for Life supports groundbreaking research and care for kidney patients like me. Their work, alongside the incredible NHS, has been central to my recovery journey.
This 8.5k walk isn’t just a physical challenge — it’s a show of strength, love, and gratitude. My daughter Charlotte and I will be walking forward together, and we’re inviting you to walk with us in spirit — by donating. Every contribution, big or small, helps fund better treatment, more research, and hope for thousands of people with kidney disease.
We will be posting updates on the day of our walk from kites to ice cream stops!
Thank you so much for reading and your kindness,
Philip & Charlotte Kinsella
