It is with profound sadness that we share the sudden and unexpected passing of Philimon Tesfaye on Friday, June 6, 2025. Philimon was just 13 years old. He was a devoted son and a protective, loving older brother to Nathan — roles he carried with great pride and deep love long before he was a beloved student at St. Martin de Porres Catholic School.
Philimon’s gentle heart, radiant smile, and quiet strength left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He was kind, respectful, and never had a harsh word for anyone. He was also creative and funny — always able to make others laugh, often in the most unexpected and joyful ways. Philimon looked out for his little brother, even checking in with Nathan’s teachers to make sure he was doing okay.
He was incredibly artistic, rarely seen without a sketchpad in hand. Visual arts were his passion and purpose, and his imagination was limitless.
"Philimon always walked to the beat of his own drum - and that made him unforgettable"
"Philimon was a dedicated and talented artist. His creative spirit brought beauty and inspiration to the class"
"He was quick to give a hug, and had a contagious smile that was accompanied by a twinkle in his eye that made your day a little brighter"
"Philimon was an amazing and passionate visual artist with a wonderful sense of humour. He was my student this year & we shared a passion for drawing and the arts."
This fundraiser, organized by the staff at St. Martin de Porres, is to support the Tesfaye family with the costs of the funeral and related expenses during this unimaginably difficult time. Any contribution, no matter the amount, is deeply appreciated.
Thank you for your support, prayers, and love.
