Phil & Vanessa Bell Kidney Recovery

As you know, Phil has been waiting for a kidney transplant for a long time, and Phil and Vanessa are a step closer to hearing a date. We hope this summer will mark the beginning of good news and a finalized transplant date. We have set up this fundraiser to provide a way for you to contribute towards the medical costs associated with transplant surgery and the daily bills resulting from renal failure, time away for appointments, and the daily utilities that have been difficult to manage during his time off work and the months of recovery to follow. Not to mention the additional costs of traveling back and forth to the hospital for appointments, gas, and parking.

Even for patients with good insurance coverage, a transplant can still pose a tremendous financial burden due to anti-rejection medications, co-pays, transportation, and follow-up medical care; the out-of-pocket expenses add up quickly. Phil is also a self-employed photographer on contract, meaning full-time employment benefits are not included in his contracts, adding extra expenses, and stress to his family during this time.

We are incredibly grateful that Phil will have his kidney transplant soon, thanks to a generous donor. Phil will spend time in the hospital, and once he is cleared to come home, he will require many weeks of recovery and rest. Phil, Vanessa, and their fur babies will need our love and support.
