We are heartbroken to share that my brother, Phil Keene, passed away suddenly, leaving behind his young daughter, Charlotte, and a family who loved him deeply. Although his death was unexpected, Phil had been living with epilepsy and other ongoing conditions for many years.
As well as coping with this sudden loss, we are now facing the very real financial pressures that follow. We are raising money to help cover his funeral costs and to settle the remaining debts from the pub he owned, so that our parents do not have to take on the burden of reopening or managing this during such a difficult time.
Phil was the landlord of the Lamb Inn in Mitcheldean, and had spent many years working in pubs before that, including the Haywain, the Brewery Tap and The Crown Wood. The pub trade was a huge part of his life, and anyone who knew him will know how hard he worked and how much he cared about the communities he served.
Like many in the hospitality trade, the last few years have been incredibly tough. The challenges facing pubs across the country are well known, and although he worked tirelessly to keep things going, the business had been struggling. We want to make sure these pressures don’t fall onto our parents while they are grieving.
Our priority is to give him the send-off he deserves and to protect our family from further strain while we come to terms with losing him.
If we are fortunate enough to raise more than is needed for these immediate costs, any remaining funds will be placed into a future fund for Charlotte, to support her as she grows up without her dad.
We know times are tough for many people, so please don’t feel any pressure to give. Sharing this page would mean just as much to us as a donation.
Thank you for your kindness, support, and for helping us honour his memory.
