Edward Ayala-Barrera Attacked at Dog Park

On 11/30/2021, about 2:20PM Veronica Lopez and Edward Ayala-Barrera, and their two dogs, were at Bear Creek Dog Park. A white husky attacked their dog, so Edward grabbed the husky and shoved it away in an attempt to get it off their dog. This somehow enraged the owner and he attacked Edward. I witnessed the attack and it was completely unprovoked. He jumped Edward, taking him to the ground and was choking him before several people were able to pull him off.  Unfortunately, when the man landed on top of Edward, his leg snapped and broke in numerous places. He nearly lost it when they were unable to find a pulse in his foot. He is now facing several more surgeries, rehabilitation and an uncertain future. Edward and Veronica literally just moved to Colorado Springs and Veronica's job does not start until the 17th. Edward already lost his new job because of this and is completely unable to work for who knows how long. They are currently staying in a motel as they were just starting their search for an apartment. This is an awful welcome to a new town and I am horrified at what they are going through. A simple trip to the dog park has had devastating consequences on their life. The attacker is facing felony charges if they are able to locate him, but that will not help with their expenses.
