Six months ago the two of us embarked on a journey that brought us all the way across the globe to the Eastern Province of Rwanda. Here we’ve been able to see first hand the impact that Shooting Touch and the game of basketball has on the lives of our players and the surrounding communities. The experience has been eye opening and nothing short of amazing, but there is still so much to be done...
In approaching this year, we had two major goals as fellows. One, to re-insure every player and family within our program with Mutuelle Health Insurance at just $4.00 a person, and two, to provide our players and the surrounding community with a reliable and consistent source of clean drinking water through purchasing a Community LifeStraw filter for each of our courts. Too often our players aren’t drinking nearly enough water to live a healthy life, and when they are, only 20% of that water is clean. This practice can lead to life threatening illness and diseases.
By donating to this fund, you will be able to make a significant impact within the lives of our players and families that we have grown to love and care about so deeply here in Rwanda. It is our hope that we will continue to teach, learn, and provide resources to our players that can ultimately change the trajectory of their lives for the better. Together, we can make that impact.
