PhD Finish Line!

Hello!

My name is April and I am a PhD student studying internationally at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland, away from my native Canada.

As everyone has been facing exceptional circumstances in the past few years, I am hesitant to ask, but if are able, even an anonymous £2 or £5 would go a long way.

Background:

Despite numerous challenges, including the COVID-19 global pandemic, physical and mental health concerns, and loss of employment income, I am getting ready to submit my final thesis.

This journey began in early 2018 and is now nearing a reality of earning an advanced degree--something I never imagined possible for myself, as I previously struggled in my undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto, over 20 years ago.

The title and research topic of the thesis project is "Getting the message: A transcendental phenomenology of youth experiences of persuasive (partisan) and informative (non-partisan) campaigns during the 2019 Canadian and United Kingdom general elections."

I am making this appeal to you today, as I find myself slightly short of my current monthly budget, and while I am anticipating the arrival of student loan funding, it is not likely to arrive until the end of August. This creates a shortfall of approximately one month, as I budgeted for the funding arriving in early August. These funds are needed, as once my thesis is submitted, there will be approximately 4 - 6 months, between submission, sitting the exam, and time for any corrections.

Therefore, if you are able to assist in any way possible, it would be much appreciated, and will go towards the payment of my living expenses and bills, plus food, which totals around £1000.00 GBP for the month.
