Phases Veterinary Emergency Hospital

Hello Kamloops!

 

Our names are Dr. Adrian Helmers and Dr. Megan Broschak. We are veterinarians in Kamloops, BC, hoping to open a 24hr veterinary emergency hospital. We currently own and operate Neighbourhood Veterinary Hospital, but there is a growing need for further veterinary services within Kamloops and surrounding areas. We are dedicated to making this a reality for our city.

 

Over the last few years, there has been a drastic increase in pet ownership, but unfortunately, the veterinary industry has struggled to keep up with the demands. These factors have led to a decrease in available emergency services, especially within Kamloops. There is a crisis happening in our city, and if our local veterinarians are not supported, this may lead to even fewer emergency services for our local pets. Currently, the closest 24hr facility is in Kelowna. Not only is the physical distance challenging (especially in the middle of winter), but some pets may need care immediately.  

 

Opening a veterinary emergency hospital is a significant undertaking that will require the support of our local community. In addition, the costs associated with planning, construction, purchasing medical equipment/supplies, staffing, and operating are considerable compared to a small general practice. Start-up costs for this type of facility will be upwards of $5million, and annual operating costs will average over $3 million. We are asking the community for any help they may be able to offer to make this project a reality, and to ensure that this hospital can bring as many new services to the city as possible.
