Islamic Center of Nassau (I.C.O.N.) purchased a 1 acre property in Wantagh, NY, towards the end of 2021. In a few short months, we have renovated the interior of the building and have started conducting small programs, including Juma prayers.

The building is small and is not large enough to accommodate our community. We cannot have joint programs due to the size of the hall and the lack of bathroom facilities. As Ramadan approaches, we have to have the infrastructure to serve the community. This infrastructure includes building an outdoor modular structure, outdoor restroom facilities, interior improvements etc. We are appealing to the community to join us and help us make I.C.O.N. a shining beacon of light in Nassau County.

1) Received 501c3 tax-exempt recognition from IRS

2) Received tax-exempt recognition from NYS

3) Received property tax exemption from NYS and Nassau County

4) Accepted into PayPal Giving Fund

5) Approved for Amazon Charities

6) Approved as GoFundMe Charity

7) Received various approvals from Town of Hempstead

8) Various Building Permits approved

9) Public Assembly Permit approved

10) Hold Harmless Agreement with Town of Hempstead and Landmarks Commission signed

11) Interior of Building renovated

12) New electrical system installed

13) Majority of 1 acre site cleared

14) Survey Completed

15) Architectural Plat Plan/Site Plan

16) Occupancy Load

17) Exisiting Condition Plans

18) Majority of systems, including heating and plumbing, were redone.

19) 1st Juma Namaaz

20) 1st children/ladies program

21) 1st men's program/milad
