Help me move for residency
Donation protected
Hi. My name is Zechariah Adams. I am creating this gofundme in an attempt to get support in helping me pay for my licensing fees and to help with my move from Birmingham, Al to New Orleans, La. Coming from parents who weren’t able to finish high school, this is such a testament to show that anything is possible with prayer and determination. I am proud to be a first generation college graduate. The first in my immediate family to finish college and the first in my entire family to become a doctor. As of April 29, I graduated from samford university with a Doctorate of Pharmacy. This is not the end for me though as I hope to further pursue education in the form of a residency. Like medical school students, pharmacy students can choose to participate in the match process and compete for a spot as a resident which gives us intense training and allows us to specialize and test for certifications as well as making us more competitive for more clinical based roles in pharmacy. I began this process with no idea of how I would make it work but just trusting and relying on God and the support of family to provide which is what has gotten me this far. I have had so much adversity in my life in my attempt to reach this goal. From car accidents that left me in the hospital and having to take a semester off from undergrad, to financial aid not covering my tuition and having to work two jobs to pay my tuition, to deaths in the family that broke my heart and struggling to find the motivation to keep going, to being a young black gay man in the south and having to work twice as hard for the same opportunities as others and to be on same paying field, to working a career after undergrad because I didn’t believe I was cut out to be a doctor, to give up my secure job in medical lab science after 4 years to pursue my dream of becoming a doctor, to Covid and struggling to be successful in an online curriculum, to fighting depression and continuously finding ways to keep fighting and moving forward to my dreams. This has been my struggle. I would appreciate any help you can give to aid in my success and achieving my dreams. Thank you for reading and considering giving. You have no idea what this means for me and my family, and the dreams of others in my family that could develop from those younger than me as they grow up from just seeing it done and knowing that in spite of it all, they can do it too.
