Hi, my name is Seth and I'm a 50 year old guy living alone in Portland, OR. After leaving a toxic work environment in veterinary care, I have gone 9 months without work and have reached my financial limit. I am asking for help to remain housed.

I have received some temporary support from government programs, but I don't qualify for most of those resources because I don't have other dependants. In January, I began working with my doctor to apply for Social Security Disability but the process is painfully slow. My physical health has deteriorated dramatically in the past 2 years and I now use a cane regularly to support my mobility.

Unfortunately, this also limits the opportunities and range of work I am able to do. I have applied to over 300 jobs in the last 9 months but haven't gotten a single offer. I've been told many times that I'm very funny and a great storyteller, but it hasn't translated to job opportunities. It's frustrating and I have reached wit's end. I'm now asking for help to stay afloat at least a little longer.
