Hi everyone!
My name is Natalie Mason and I have been given the wonderful opportunity to attend the Land of Enchantment Opera Institute this summer in Gallup, New Mexico. I am a classically trained soprano, and will graduate from the University of Oklahoma this May with my Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Peformance. I have a passion for performing and have been singing my whole life. If you asked me when I was five years old what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would have told you, "I am going to be a singer."
During my college experience, I have been fortunate enough to have many different performance opportunites. I sang the female lead role of Rose Maybud in Gilbert and Sullivan's Ruddigore with Cimarron Opera, and have performed both Norina and Susanna in OU's Opera Scenes Program. Last summer I was selected to attend Italy Opera Viva and spent a month performing in Verona, Italy. I travelled back to Europe in August with the OU Chorale and performed Haydn's "Die Jahreszeiten" at the International Haydntage Festival in Eisenstadt, Austria.
It is an honor to be accepted into the Land of Enchantment Opera program considering that the audition process is very selective and competitive. I am one of approximately 25 singers selected to receive intensive vocal training, personalized attention, and high quality instruction offered by the faculty, each of whom is a recognized master in his or her field. I will be a featured soloist in the Sacred Music Concert and various scene concerts that will be held, and will be covering the role of Susanna in the fully staged production of Le Nozze di Figaro.
The total tuition cost for the five week training program is $3,200. I was fortunate to be awarded a $500 scholarship from Land of Enchantment to help with the costs, but I still need to raise $2,700 to attend the program. This amount includes daily voice lessons, coachings, and lodging in Gallup. By donating, you would be helping me to have the superior training that the institute offers. This program will be invaluable to me as I prepare for auditions for graduate school programs over the next few months.
