Melissa and Trey are 20 weeks along with twin baby girls.  At their regular checkup they found out the following news which was posted to Melissa's Facebook page on 1/13/2019:

"Last week at our regular specialist checkup, they found signs for a rare condition called twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome. In a nutshell, baby B (Olivia) is getting too much blood/nutrients/amniotic fluid, and baby A (Harper) is not getting enough and is becoming dehydrated. This condition is caused by the twins sharing too many vessels that are located on the (one) placenta that they share. Both girls can develop health conditions if it is not fixed quickly. About 15 to 20% of monochorionic twin pregnancies have this condition develop. Our doctors in Macon referred us to the Cincinnati Fetal Center the morning after we received the news. Since then, the doctors have been reviewing our case in Cincinnati. Today, we drove up and will start our first of several appointments tomorrow at 6:30am. We have a full schedule until we will meet with our team of doctors at 2:00pm."

Yesterday, after meeting with the specialists in Cincinnati they concluded the following:

"After meeting with the doctors, we have decided to proceed with the surgical treatment that they have offered.
Our diagnosis of Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome has been confirmed in addition to Intrauterine Growth Restriction. We are hoping to go for surgery on Wednesday."
